11 things I am grateful for this year

Tell me the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear ‘Fall‘. For me, its definitely Fashion and ‘Gratefulness‘. This season signifies transition and what better time to sit back, take a deep breath and analyze how far we have come, what we have accomplished, what kind of human have we transitioned into and the things we are deeply grateful for. I want to do the same and jot down 11 things I am grateful for so far because GRATITUDE is everything in life.

  • I am grateful for a beautiful winter in January 2019. My best friend’s daughter turned 1 and it was one of the best years seeing her grow up. I also witnessed my first ever Cirque Du Soleil show, which was magnificent.
  • I am grateful that my husband got an onsite opportunity in the US. Also, we completed another year of our marriage.
  • I am grateful for the most memorable girl’s trip to Goa and also the first one with my sister.
  • I am grateful I got a chance to go to the US and live with my husband. The hard part was leaving my 7 years job with American Express but I am thankful for that too as I couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin my career with and leave with the best memories of life. As they say, ‘good things come to an end as better things await’.
  • I am grateful I was able to spend quality time with my family and friends before coming to the States.
  • I am grateful to have got a chance to see and explore a new country, different states/cities such as New York, New Jersey, Boston, Washington DC, New Hampshire, Vegas, Phoenix (Grand Canyon) & Niagara Falls. This has been the best summer ever.
  • I am grateful I got time to explore my culinary skills and learn to make new dishes, especially healthy ones.
  • I am grateful I was able to pursue my passion for fashion & beauty, and start my blog named ‘The Girl Next Door‘.
  • I am grateful I have been able to successfully write 10 blog posts in 2 months. More than that, I am thankful that I was able to express my views on fashion & share my travel experiences with words which I never thought I could do.
  • I am grateful for this break from the 9-5 job which has given me time to work on my hobbies and passion.
  • Lastly, I am grateful I survived this year (almost) with grace, dignity, pride, strength, hope, good experiences, new learnings, reality and most importantly my loved ones around me.

I learned quite later in life how important it is to feel gratitude. We don’t even get to know the kind of struggle people go through every day. There is poverty, lack of education, malnutrition, physical & mental illness, and many other miseries which most of us are blessed enough to not see. Therefore, being thankful for the life we have is the least that can be done. Trust me and think about it once. You will feel contented in life!
