Take me back to the mighty Niagara Falls already!

Hey folks! I have been away for more than a week now and that’s because I went to see the Niagara Falls.

Let me just begin by saying that no amount of google images, traveler’s photograph or any other pictures online/offline can justify what I saw with my naked eyes. It is beyond mesmerizing. I am a nature-lover and make sure to connect with it in the best possible way but this was…………MIND BLOWING and beyond my imagination!!!

Niagara Falls

I really don’t want this post to just be a travel guide to the mighty falls (I am still trying to get over what I saw); therefore, will quickly share a brief on how I reached there and what else can you cover with it.

  • Firstly, people might say but IT IS NOT OVERRATED and WORTH THE VISIT.
  • Secondly, most of you already know that the falls share its border with Canada (Ontario) and the United States (Western New York). And yes, the view from Ontario is better than from New York because you get a front view unlike from New York, which gives a side view. But…… I might have a solution to that as well for the people going to visit from New York like me.
  • As usual, Groupon came to rescue and I got a pretty good deal. The deal not only covered the falls but few other significant tourist spots on its way and back.
  • The first stop was the Corning Glass Museum. There are many interesting facts about it but my favorite one is you can watch a live demo of how the beautiful glass objects such as Vase, bowl, etc. are made.
  • From there, we headed straight to the Niagara Falls. You can definitely see the falls from its observatory deck; however, I would strongly recommend not missing the “Maid of the Mist” tour. A ferry takes you around the river and you get the closest view possible to the falls. You even feel the mist from the falls (they provide you waterproof ponchos to coverup), which was the most surreal experience for me. I was lucky enough to see the rainbow reflecting brightly in front of it.
  • As much as the day view is perfect, it offers the most picturesque view at night with the most enchanting fireworks. Make sure to stay till 10:00 PM if you want to witness the fireworks. As I have stated earlier, no picture can justify; however, there are few just to give a glimpse of this beauty.

  • The next morning on our way back, we first stopped by the Niagara Whirlpool State Park which is located along the upper Whirlpool Rapids, a dangerously turbulent stretch of the Niagara River downstream from Niagara Falls, followed by a short stop at the Old Fort Niagara.
  • The fort had its most significance during the Colonials Wars. Now, I don’t want to talk history much and you can read about it here. But what fascinated me the most was you can still see French Civil War veterans living there in tents, all dressed in the vintage French outfits. For a brief, you will feel traveling back to the old era in France. This fort offers a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean where Niagara and Ontario rivers flow into.

  • The next and final stop was the Glen Park, which generates 19 waterfalls along its course and is a perfect trekking place.

This post is intended to help you guys planning a trip to Niagara but more than that, I just wanted to share how enchanting and surreal this whole experience was.
This led me to think about our Mother Nature; how it has so much beauty, peace and vibrant things to offer. We should feel obligated to give it back in the best possible way. My heart sinks each day to see how mankind (includes me) has exploited it and our future generations would miss witnessing the beauty and foremost suffer for our deeds. I urge each one of you to do your bit in saving one of the most beautiful things we have been granted.
